PocketPC cannot find remote SQL Server database

I have an application build in VB.net for PocketPC. When trying to connect to the remote SQL Server 2005 database, it gives an error stating it can't find the database server. I tried on 3 differents PocketPC terminal and it always give the same error. I can ping the server IP from the terminal and database/credentials are setted correctly. SQL Server accept remote connection and TCP/IP protocol is enable.

I can connect to that very same database remotly, from Management Studio or even from another program (windows based) I made.

So, any idea why I can't connect from a wireless PocketPC terminal ?

thanks for your time and help

ASKER

I already using IP address: 192.168.1.4\SQL2005

where SQL2005 is the name of our SQL Server instance.

Error message gives: Specified SQL server not found : 192.168.1.4\SQL2005
When using same credential and connection string from a Windows based application, it works fine.

I'm really puzzled about this one...

Do you mean you reinstalled SQL Server as the default instance and retried?
no, I can't do that.Just removed the instance name from the connection string. of course, it didn't worked.
