Does Windows 2008 R2 (64-bit) has restore/recovery feature like XP ?

 - Windows XP/Vista/7  has a  restore/recovery option, where we can recreate a restore point
   and recover the system.  We use this feature on most of the workstations when they are
   infected with any spyware/malware or virus.

1) Does Windows 2008 R2 (64-bit) has a similar feature ?

2)  If YES, how stable is this feature ?  I know in Windows XP , 7 out of 10 times the
     windows restore wouldn't work.

3)  Does the restore/recovery option would be effected if we have Symantec Endpoint Protection installed on the server ?  I have seen some notes that Symantec wouldn't allow
 windows to restore to a previous state.

Any more inputs on this topic is also appreciated.

@originalbiffmalibu:

 What does the download link files do ?

 After we unzip the files what needs to be done on the Windows 2008 R2 (64-bit) server ?
System restore is built within Windows and Windows 2008 Server does NOT have this feature

@dariusg:

 So how does networks which have Windows 2008 R2(64-bit) handle this ?

 - Lets say I have installed a fresh copy of OS and then install all of my required softwares(point A), I wanted  take a backup/image of the current PC.  Now over a period of time if I wanted to go backup
  and restore it to point A, how do I handle this ?
You must restore the system to the prior point. In Windows XP even if you installed programs when you restore from a prior point the new installed program would still be there. Windows System Restore is not an actual restore point this is why you need to use a Backup system like Windows Backup or BackupExec
the files have an install.bat that puts them in the correct place.  Reboot and you have System Restore

 Does the windows backup feature in 2008 R2 (64-bit) allow me to do the above ?

@originalbiffmalibu:

 So the install.bat will make my Windows 2008 R2 (64-bit) have this Windows Restore point feature
 what we see in XP/Vista/7  ?

No, again Windows Restore points are not avialable in Windows Server editions this is only for client features. You can have to backup and restore your system but with Windows 2008 Server you have a type of image software that comes built-in which is called Windows Backup.
@dariusg - You are incorrect.  Server 2003 does not inherently include system restore but it is compatible with XP's system restore.  I use it often on client's servers.

@ocube - That is the idea.  I have not tried this one yet, only with 2003 but it looks like it works the same way.

@dariusg:

In your last posting you said that Windows Backup has a image software which allows me to take an entire image of the server.

Does it allow me to restore that image, in the event of failure ?
Yes that is what Windows Backup does

No sorry

So, if anyone knows where these files can be downloaded from now that Mega Upload is gone, please update this posting!

Thank you.
Again this is not a supported solution. You are breaking the EULA of MS by using these copies if the actually work.
@ocube

I know this questions is closed, but I have to ask why would you want to try and circumvent using windows backup.

It is part of the OS as an available feature and it cost nothing to install.  You take a daily backup of your system state you are do the thing as creating a restore point.
The only difference is that you need to apply some human effort into setting it up.
