Offline File Folders error cannot find the specified file. Make sure you specify the correct path and file name
I have Windows Storage Server 2008 Standard File Server.
when users Sync their mapped network drive to their local computer they sometimes get an error when opening up files.
Cannot delete <name of file that was just deleted>: Cannot find the specified file. Make sure you specify the correct path and file name."
When i remove the offline File / Folder Sync these issues go away.

This has been a hard problem to Solve because it doesnt happen with every file and it doesnt happen with all users. 6 or 7 out of my 30 laptop users who use offline folders are having this issues.
But with all if i turn off offline folders it solves the problem.

What happens when you back up the user's data and re-image the computer and put it back on the network? If that fixes your issue, you are in the same boat as this guy was:

I will see if i can replicate it on a different computer with the same login. the only difference is that we are all still running Windows XP as our desktop OS.
Okay that helps narrow it down considerably. It looks like we will have to troubleshoot this like you said, trying to duplicate the issue by trying out different ways to do this:
Given a known good username and good computer, try that username on a different computer that's having an issue.
If that works fine, it's the username that has the issue on the second computer.
Try a "bad computer username" with a known good computer. This will tell you that it's the user if it's doing it with their brand new profile.

On a few problem systems, check the Application Logs for any sources of "Offline Files", to see if there is CSC corruption....
Keep in mind, if there is, do NOT reinitialize the CSC until you are 100% sure that all locally created/modified docs are extracted, and safe somewhere, else they are gone for ever.....

Are the majority of the problem machines running XP or Vista? This is a fairly common issue with XP and Vista laptops users. I normally see this when a laptop is resumed from suspend with a document open that was opened or modified offline when the machine was disconnected from the network. If this is the problem the following steps should resolve the issues:
1. Disconnect machine from network
2. Have user save and close any open documents
3. Reconnect machine to network
4. Have user log off then back on
If this resolves the issue make sure you're laptop users log off and back on after they arrive at work every day. If this doesn't resolve the issue or if it's happening with desktops as well as laptops we'll need to start looking at comm errors with the server and possible CSC corruption
