Pervasive.SQL v8.5 - Error #86 File Manager Fatal Error
Hello,
I'm running Pervasive.SQL v8.5. When trying to load the database, the following message appears.... Error #86 File Manager Fatal Error. I looked up this particular error code and it means "File table is Full". According to Pervasive documentation, this is an obselete error for this version of Pervasive. The error is only occurring when trying to load the db from a virtual server. The error does not occur on non-virtual servers.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.
Thank you
Diammond

You are right that the setting was removed. It had been left in for a while after the limit had been removed.
- How many files do you have open when the status 86 occurs?
- WHat kind of application is returning the status 86?

Mirtheil,
This is a new install of the Pervasive db and the application on a virtual server. When I try to load the application, the error appears immediately. So there are only a few files open at that time (I would say about 6). The application uses the Pervasive db to manage work that is scanned into the database. However, I don't even get this far since the error occurs almost immediately.
One more thing to mention...The error is random and I can't seem to find any consistency (meaning, sometimes it happens when I remotely log into the machine via PcAnywhere or Remote Deskotp and also when I am at the machine logging in locally.
Thanks

BillBach,
I cannot find any Betrieve registry entries. WBTRV32.DLL and WBTRCALL.DLL are in the c:\pvsw\bin folder and have correct dates. I cannot find any traces of W32BTR.EXE and W32MKDE.EXE.
The value in the new perfmon counter does not increase when the error occurs (549916672 before and after).
Thanks

BillBach,
Yes, Server 2003 Enterprise Edition.
It's definitely a pervasive error. I will try to enable the tracing.
Thanks

Error was due to a network infrastructure issue

There is no open file setting for this version of Pervasive. I think the setting applies to earlier versions.
Thanks
