VMWare ESXi 4.1.0 VM MAnagement / vSphere client
Hello,
i just installed VMWare ESX 4.1.0 on my Server. After configuring the network setting and connecting to the VMWare Web Interface it gave me an option to download vSphere client in order to install and manage VM's. It appears what i downloaded is a 60 day trail version of the software, ? My question is how would i be able to setup and manage VM's without vSphere client? I didn't see any options using the web interface? I am planning to run 3 Windows 2008 VMs.
Any help is appreciated

Pg. 23 tells you about downloading/install vSphere Client of the DC Adm Guide, and Pg. 25 begins discussion of how to use the Client.
Pg. 75-78 of the DC Adm Guide shows you/tells you how to add license to a host, specifically top of pg. 78 for standalone ESXi host.
Pg. 19 of the VM Adm Guide shows you how to create new VMs.
Hope that helps.

Hi
Just type on you browser the ip of your VMware ESX(i). This will show the VMware Host page, then you can donwload the vSphere Client and install on you laptop/Desktop and use.
With the vSphere Client you can do all the host management and also VM management.
Regarding the ESX(i) license, the guys have added the steps to license the VMware ESX(i)
Jail

OK...so now that ESXi is installed...yes, you go to the web page of your new host and download vSphere Client. You use that to manage your host/VMs as it says. So, click to download the Client and install it on your workstation. Open it and type in the IP or hostname of your new ESXi host, then enter the "root" credentials ('root' for username and your 'root' acct pwd). You will then be connected to your ESXi host. Here, you will see a "Licensing" icon. Go there to enter your license.
After there, you can create new VMs. I recommend looking at the Datacenter and VM Admin Guides here:
