Filezilla Server Configuration and Win 2008

Hello EE. Happy New Year to all. I have been trying to configure an FTP site for a while with little success.I have tried different versions of Windows 2008 with different FTP packages. I am trying to use Zilezilla Server. I enabled SSL and generated a certificate. My server is sitting in a DMZ zone on a Cisco ASA5520 with ports 20 and 21 enabled. I see Filezilla uses other ports, I want to use some kind of security for my FTP Server since the firewall, according to Cisco, cannot route encrypted traffic. When I try to ftp localhost and provide user credentials I get "530 Have to use explicit SSL/TLS before logging on". What other ports do I need to open on the Windows firewall and the Cisco firewall? What do external users have to use to utize my FTP server with SSL using an FTP client? I am using Filezilla Server with Windows 2008 Standard.

Let me check it out thanks. Looking for some how to links.
All FTP clients and servers use other ports in addition to 20 and 21.
Ok. I have those ports open on the ASA device. Should I be using Passive mode or Active mode on the Sever side config?
I think if you open the suggested port range, the client will ask for PASV when it's wanted.  At least that's what I'm used to.
Which port range is that? Is that 50,000-51000 as well as 990?
The article I linked above says: "In most cases, a range like 5000-5100 is sufficient."
ok.  What about the error I get when trying to FTP locally? "530 Have to use explicit SSL/TLS before logging on.
I don't know what that means.  I don't know if SSL/TLS works thru localhost.
You might want to "Request Attention" and see if the mods can add some better zones to your question.
Ok. Will do. Thanks
ok. Thanks
