What are the options for hosting video content for city council meetings? I've researched many video hosting sites including youtube, metacafe, and others but find it odd that there doesn't appear to be any city council content other than media worthy ones with fights. I suspect that many of these are hosting the content themselves.<br />

I'm also aware of Granicus, but they aren't an option at this time.<br />

Is there a good argument for self-hosting the content v.s. outsourced hosting? Our bandwidth and space requirements are very minimal but the city administrator is wanting to understand better why one way or the other. I'm bumping his hosting fees up and he's wondering if it work <br />

City Council Video Hosting

A Web service is a method of communication between two electronic devices over a network. It is a software function provided at a network address over the Web with the service always on as in the concept of utility computing. A web service has an interface described in Web Services Description Language (WSDL). Other systems interact with the Web service in a manner prescribed by its description using SOAP (Simple Object Access Protocol) messages. There are two major classes of Web services: REST-compliant web services, and Arbitrary web services.

Web Components are a set of standards currently being produced by Google engineers as a W3C specification that allow for the creation of reusable widgets or components in web documents and web applications. The intention behind them is to bring component-based software engineering to the World Wide Web. The components model allows for encapsulation and interoperability of individual HTML elements. Support for Web Components is present in Chrome and Opera and is in Firefox (with a manual configuration change). Microsoft's Internet Explorer has not implemented any Web Components specifications yet. Web Components consist of 4 main elements: Custom Elements, Shadow DOM, HTML Imports and HTML Templates.

It is a model for enabling ubiquitous, on-demand access to a shared pool of configurable computing resources. Cloud computing and storage solutions provide users and enterprises with various capabilities to store and process their data in third-party data centers, relying on sharing of resources to achieve coherence and economies of scale.
