Project Web Access (PWA) 2010 - Access Denied

We have installed Project Server 2010 onto our Sharepoint 2010 server, which has been operating without too many problems for a while.

The administrator account has access to the PWA server.  I can access user permissions, groups, etc.

However, on every attempt to access PWA as a user I get the error:

Error: Access Denied
  Current User
You are currently signed in as:  DOMAIN\Username

Sign in as a different user
Request access

I have tried to request access and give it to myself from the administrator account, I have added myself to web administrators, site collection administrators - every administrative group I can find, yet I cannot access PWA as my user account.

I've checked the services and restarted services - but since Sharepoint's working I cannot see why PWA should be having such troubles.  Does anyone have any suggestions.

Thanks

Project server has its own access control lists. There are different permissions for different groups of people. If you are a resource in a project you get specific permissions.

OK, Thankyou....and I now approach the problem of not being able to login to PWA as anyone but administrator by......?

Sorry if that reads badly, it's just a genuine 'I'm stumped' response and I don't see how this helps - I gave permissions to my own named account in PWA Server Settings.

I also made myself a resource and it doesn't seem to have made a difference.  There must be something key that I'm missing.

There is a hotfix that you might need to get the UserProfile service to work

I figured out the issue myself.  The other advice here was very helpful but not specific to the issue.
