What is the best way to purge Quickbooks Enterprise Data

I ahve a client with a 3 GB QB Enterprise 09 file.  Tey did purchase the upgrade for 10 and it still needs to be installed.

Can someone point me in the right direction to purge some of the old company data?

I would say first, DO NOT use the in-product company cleanup utility. It will bloat your file more often than reduce it.

The only real way is to remove data from the file. You would keep the current file copy as a 'historical copy' and start a new file with only some of the data being brought forward. If your file has Assisted Payroll I would STRONGLY DISCOURAGE any of this and just start a new file working with Assisted Payroll to do so.

There are a number of companies out there that can 'split' a file for you. If you have DIY payroll you will want to see how that will be handled. Last I looked my company was the only one that left it intact, but that may have changed.

You can also look into 3rd party apps that will move most the data for you from one file to another. The one I recommend is the Data Transfer Utility at q2q.us (I am not affiliated with this firm)but you can find others at Marketplace.intuit.com

Thanks for the suggestion.  The file has grown to over 3 GB in size.  I am even sure where to start at this point.  I will take a look at q2q.us.
