Removing unwanted resources

I have created a project plan in MS Project 2007.

In the Resource Sheet view I can see 2 unwanted resources which were entered by mistake (they were added because resource name was incorrectly typed in Gantt Chart view). In this state all remaining resources are correctly allocated and these 2 resources are not at all allocated anywhere.
Now when I remove these resources from the Resource Sheet, all other resources become overallocated.
I am not able to make out why this is happening.
Can someone please help me with it.
Thank you

ank5,

Again I would start by checking the Resource Usage View and make sure that the resource has 0 total hours contributed toward the project. If you see  hours allocated to that resource, you should be able to find out which days and tasks those hours are coming from and go back and review them.

It is also possible that the tasks got put in as fixed duration. So you had 2 resources doing a task for 1 week. If you remove one resource instead of saying it would now take 2 weeks (Half resources-Double the time) it might have kept the duration of 1 week and doubled the hours worked by the remaining resource causing the over allocation.

Third option there is a Resource Management toolbar that you can get to by right clicking your toolbars and selecting it. On this toolbar there is a find next overallocation button that will allow you to search for places where the resources are over-allocated and try to fix them that way.
