I'm in the process of taken over a web application project and I'm trying to understand the compilation process. I'm reading that its different then website deployment.  I understand that web applications have to be pre-compiled but I'm not sure what files can be changed with out compiling the whole projects such as aspx files. Could some one clarify the compilation and deployment process for web applications. I need to start making changes to this application and I'm struggling understanding what to compile and what to deploy.
