Modal popup opacity doesn't work with safari

I have a modal popup that works fine with IE and firefox but with safari the opacity doesn't work. I am using a css stylesheet to set the background opacity. What is the css commands to set opacity for safari

   * -khtml-opacity: 0.7; Used for Transparency on old versions of Safari
    * opacity: 0.7; The current CSS standard, Supports Transparency with all recent versions of Firefox,   Opera and Safari.
