Symantec Antivirus for server stopped updating

We use Windows Server 2003 and Symantec antivirus 8.1.0.825.  The definition date stopped at 10-18-2010.  If I manually update the definitions it replies that it has updated but the date does not change.

Is there some limit to the number of updates?  Was it a change after a Windows update?  I don't understand why my virus definitions will not update for Symantec.

Stop the symantec antivirus services

Go to: C:\Documents and Settings\All Users\Application Data\Symantec\Symantec AntiVirus Corporate Edition\7.5\  (this is for the version I am using 10.1.5)

Delete all the folders and files within it.

Restart the service

run live update.

it should update successfully now.

Or else you can try below URL.

Hi,

http://www.symantec.com/business/security_response/definitions/download/detail.jsp?gid=savce:

Symantec Antivirus 8.0 reached its End of Support Life as of November 30, 2005 and Symantec Antivirus 8.1 reached its End of Support Life as of January 31, 2007, as defined in the Symantec Enterprise Technical Support Policy. Therefore virus definition updates are no longer supported for this product.

Symantec Antivirus 9.x will reach its End of Standard Support as of March 31, 2009. Virus definition updates for version 9.x will be discontinued on April 1, 2009. Please contact your account manager or reseller for information about our current shipping versions.

The solution is that the program is out of date.  There are no updates.

The update option would have worked except that Symantec has no more updates
