Move content databases between SHarePoint Farm

We have SharePoint 2007 production and stage farm. I would like to refresh stage farm with the data from production farm. I did restore content and Mysites databases (we have one for each) on stage. Everything went well I can access sites and mysites on stage portal but with one issue.
We have customized mysites with lot of employee data displayed on the page which are obviuosly stored in SSP database. With the restore profile properties are not updated.
For ex: If open my mysite on stage, data which are being displayed on mysite is not the same as in production mysite. I think restoring mysites db doesn't really updates the SSP db.

Do I need to restore prod. SSP db on stage separately??, if I did would it break the link to profiles?? or is there any other way through sql script to update SSP properties??

Thanks in advance.

I've never had much luck moving SSP databases between servers. Always followed this:

http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/cc896556(office.12).aspx

I actually think this is the only supported way, seems like I've heard that somewhere :)
