index and match formulae

Dear experts,

The formulae in cell c1 worked (logic) fine in other sheets, but in this particular case i am not getting the result can some help.

Hello Excellearner,

Your last 2 MATCH functions are the wrong way round, in INDEX the row reference comes before column, so you need this version

=IF(COUNT(MATCH(C2,'date elements'!B3:K3,0)*MATCH(E1,'date elements'!A4:A9,0)),INDEX('date elements'!B4:K9,MATCH(E1,'date elements'!A4:A9,0),MATCH(C2,'date elements'!B3:K3,0)),0)

Barry,excellent once again.

Coordinator, since the correct formulae appears in the expertt's comment.

Can i reqeust the sample spread sheet attached to be deleted. As such it does not contain any confidential informtion. I would be comfortable if the sheet is deleted.
