Hi,

Does anyone know if it is possible to get an image-comparing-contest script somewhere?

Looking for pretty much exactly the same thing as kittenwars.com.

Thanks in advance for any help!

What does it have to do? The page at kittenwars.com only displays two images and lets the user click 1. All that would do is store the result in a table. That's very easy to write. Do you have a server that will run php and mysql and do you have access to phpmyadmin etc....? We could do a quick script that will allow you to click one of two boxes and store the result in a table.

It's a cute site.  Not sure I understand the business model or the results page... If you win 80% of 472 battles does that make you more of a winner than a kitten that has won 77% of 1,300 battles?

It works by accepting uploaded files - image and kitten name are stored on the server, thus the data model is "crowd sourced".  On the site, two random images are presented.  The click chooses the winner and adds a row to the results table.  The results table contains the two kitten id keys - one in the winner column and the other in the loser column.  From that, it is pretty easy to compute results, show individual records, big winners and big losers, etc.  Looks like a second-term freshman project in a computer science curriculum.  Might be a good online game, too, except for the need to keep sending new kitten pictures to the handheld device.

Hi,

thanks for all the replies -- rationalboss, that's exactly what I was looking for, and I'd be willing to pay a few bucks for it, so your answer was spot-on.

elvin66 -- I was looking for a plug-n-play solution that I would have to, at the most, unpack and minimally customize.

Ray Paseur -- I think the business model is just advertising is the case of kittenwars -- who wouldn't want to look at kittens? In my case, I am considering using it as a game on product site, though I am leaning towards the 'hotornot' style contest instead. Wanted to see if this was even an option. Looks like it is!

Thanks everyone,

Andrey
