You need to use obj.stretchToFit

Note the additional stretchtofit param in the code.
<object id="MediaPlayer" width=950 height=548 classid="CLSID:22D6f312-B0F6-11D0-94AB-0080C74C7E95" standby="Loading Windows Media Player components..." type="application/x-oleobject" codebase="http://activex.microsoft.com/activex/controls/mplayer/en/nsmp2inf.cab#Version=6,4,7,1112">

<param name="filename" value="http://davidlereaney.com/demoreel.wmv">
<param name="Showcontrols" value="True">
<param name="autoStart" value="False">
<param name="wmode" value="transparent">
<param name="stretchToFit" value="1">

<embed type="application/x-mplayer2" src=http://davidlereaney.com/demoreel.wmv" name="MediaPlayer" autoStart="False" wmode="transparent" width="950" height="548"></embed>

</object>
