Filemaker error 956

I'm trying to enable web publishing on a Filemaker 9 installation. We're using the main two server role. This server was previously attached to another dead web publishing server. Now whenever I attempt to connect I receive an error code 956, maximum connection attempts exceeded. There are no other outstanding connections. How can I resolve this?

challengeday, I ran across that document earlier.

The two FileMaker servers both reside on the same subnet without a firewall between. The windows firewall is disabled on both machines. I have verified that both machines can ping by domain name (short and fully qualified) to the other.

Can you telnet on the necessary ports?

Also, have you checked the number of licenses?

challengeday, I managed to set up a single server configuration based on the page you suggested. It isn't ideal but it'll get me through the debugging process. Thanks for your help.
