When I delete in Outlook how can it delete also in Gmail

MY gmail.outlook is connected using Imap/smtp. outlook always reflects what I do in gmail, so if I delete something there, it also deletes in outlook. But if I delete something in outlook, the item gets a line through it and is greyed out, but it remains in my gmail account. Does anyone know how I can set it up so that outlook will delete items from my gmail account?

Thanks

go into the "more settings" of the mail account in outlook

untick the box that say "remove from the server after x days"

and tick the box that says "remove from the server when deleted from deleted items"

then they should match gmail/outlook
