Citrix XenApp Fundamentals 6 Trial, external access problems

I am trying to set up a Citrix XenApp Fundamentals 6 (XAF6) trial for one of my end users who has remote access requirement.  I have convinced them Citrix is the product to use and they have already purchased the client devices (IPads).

The existing environment is a Windows 2003 SBS with internal Windows XP/7 clients.  The SBS server acts as a gateway to the Internet and has two NICs one LAN facing and one WAN facing.  The Internet is via a single ADSL router (Draytek 2820).  As I have had previous issues with SSL I asked the end user to purchase an additional WAN IP address.  They now have two static IP addresses coming in on the one ADSL line.  I'm pretty sure I have the 2820 configured to work with both external IPs.

I have installed a new XenServer 5.6 virtual server to host the new SQL 2008 R2 application server and my XAF6 server.

The virtual XAF6 server is configured with two NICs LAN to the local LAN and WAN to the Internet vai the 2820.

After weeks of trying I am making np progress getting XAF6 to work remotely.  I have no problem accessing published apps on the LAN but no joy from a remote location.

I am running out of ideas (and patience) and have posted my issue on the Citrix forums without a solution so EE is my last port of call.

Help....

maybe you want to scrap Citrix and try www.2x.com, it has a new iPAD client, and is cheaper and quicker, and easier to setup than Citrix, since Citrix change it's licensing to name users, many customer have moved from Citrix to other remote access products.

trials of www.2x.com available. 30 days, and then you can use a 3 concurrent license versio for free.

Are you indicating the SSL certificate requirements?  If so I am all SSL certificated up in this system, albeit with a manually created 45 day trial SSL certificate from Globalsign.  It was a bt problematic as no CAs will provide SSL certificates based on Citrix's CSR as it's only 1024 bit.

I am trying to use the Direct Connect method but my Secure Gateway doesn't appear to be correctly configured and my internal and external web sites in IIS have no reference to SSL.

Thanks

Do you know what, I'm going to take a look.  I had noticed the licence tied to logged on user and hadn't taken much notice of it.

I've been using Citrix products for over 10 years now and with my recent experiences I'm not overly happy.

My only concern with other products is the compatibility with the esoteric 3rd party applications I may want to run.

Thanks

We've converted many of our Citrix customers that have used Citrix since 1995 to 2X.

If you don't have a 2X partner yet you can contact us and we can assist, our contact info is on my profile.

I'll have a bash at 2X tomorrow and report back.

I've had a bash and I'm slightly underwhelmed!  Can't even get a local client to start published apps without more lash-ups.  I've tried to call you on your contact details from your web site without response.  I'm in Halifax West Yorks so could do with having a chat.

Thanks

I've given up on Citrix XenApp Fundamentals and 2X and used Teamviewer with their iPad client.  Works like a dream and only £80.  Shame about all of the time I've wasted attempting a "professional" solution.  There is a lesson to be learned in there somewhere, often less is more!

Thanks for the help though.
