When you only have one single server in your environment, what are the tools you need installed on the server (Windows 2003) in order to monitor and maintain that server? There are so many tools that SmartStart installs.<br />

I want to be able to:<br />

1) Monitor the health of the server, including the RAID controller and drives<br />
&nbsp; &nbsp; - Events are best sent to the Event Logs in Windows rather than SNMP<br />
2) Keep the server up to date with the latest drivers and firmware<br />
3) Set up ILO<br />
<br />
I want to be sure i&quot;m using the proper tools, and also that I don't have MORE installed than I need.<br />

HP's site is WAY too convoluted to find a simple answer :)<br />

What are the minimum tools needed to manage and monitor a proliant ML 350

Servers are computing devices that are similar to desktop computers in that they have the same basic components, but are significantly different in size, configuration and purpose. Servers are usually accessed over a network, and many run unattended, without a computer monitor, input device, audio hardware or USB interfaces. Many servers do not have a graphical user interface (GUI), and are configured and managed remotely. Servers typically include hardware redundancy such as dual power supplies, RAID disk systems, and ECC memory, along with extensive pre-boot memory testing and verification. Critical components might be hot swappable, and to guard against overheating, servers might have more powerful fans or use water cooling.
