Video Thumbnail Creation

Hi,

I'm building a website, and one of the features of the website is a video upload.

What I am wondering is, which is a smarter approach to creating video thumbnails.

at first, I was thinking, just write some code to dynamically extract a thumbnail in memory of each wmv, and display the thumbnail images in a datalist.

But then I started thinking. what if 1000's of viewers are looking at the thumbnails and they are loading in memory. Could have a major problem.

So I figured an alternative would be to generate a thumbnail image, in the upload encode process. then the datalist is populated with images and not utilizing the memory process as much.

I've never done this before. So any advice on the proper approach would be greatly appreciated
