SBS 2011 Backup to External Hard Drive

We will soon be upgrading from SBS 2008 to SBS 2011.  It's also time to get new backup hard drives.  Can the standard SBS backup be made to a hard drive that automatically encrypts the data?  We're looking at purchasing Aegis Padlocks so we can store an offsite backup.

no it can't and I'd caution you regarding that.
I just went and looked at those drives and I'd be highly suspect as to whether they will work with SBS backup at all.

Any drive that can't be "managed" by the SBS Backup utility is going to fail

I use either the Seagate "Expansion" Drives or the Fantom Portable Harddrives.

If you want to step up the quality fo the drives you can go to High-Rely drives.

Where are you going to store the drives that you think you need this level of protection?

Thank you for the quick reply.  We've been using Acomdata drives with no problems.  We have a pair of them and the one rotated out is stored in an onsite FireKing media safe.  We are looking to add a third drive for offsite - talking carry home in the briefcase.  So was looking for a secure way to handle it.
