Use your left hand on the control key and click.

Can't tell you how to fix the problem unless and you tell us exactly what the problem is and what you have done so far.

I unchecked first checkbox and now I can even click with trackpad.  Is there a way to get back to system preferences without clicking and recheck that checkbox.   Or do I need to use usb external mouse
