Sharepoint 2010 configuration after farm wizard

I am trying to properly install and configure new Sharepoint 2010 environment for database attach upgrade. I was able to successfully run Farm Configuration Wizard. After reading a lot about the subject I am a little confused what to do next. Can somebody provide me with a good bullet list what else needs to be configure and in what order to make sure that the farm is fully functional (search, sync with AD, etc)? If you have links to detailed configuration steps I would also appreciate it.

High level:
Configure service apps (search, user profiles, mgd metadata, etc)
Configure outgoing email
Configure logging
Create web app and site collection


There is now a wizard to do a lot of the stuff automatically.  Look under the Wizard section on the left in Central Admin.  You can contact me via email if you need assistance (click my user name and use the "hire me" link on the left).
