I have this computer, it has Windows XP Pro SP3 loaded and is a 32-bit OS:

Compaq Presario 061 EX325AA-ABA SR1950NX NA670 0nx1411RE101NAGA200
System Serial Number: CNX62107F2
Enclosure Type: Desktop
Processor a   Main Circuit Board b
2.40 gigahertz AMD Athlon 64

1024 Megabytes Installed Memory

Slot 'A0' has 512 MB
Slot 'A1' has 512 MB
Slot 'A2' is Empty
Slot 'A3' is Empty

I want to max out the memory. I understand that I can install 4GB of RAM, but only about 3.24GB of Ram will be used.

Is that true for this PC as well? I know that some PCs need matched RAM. Would I have to remove the 2 present 512Mb chips and install 4 - 1Gb chips or 2 - 2Gb chips? And will this PC actually recognize that much? Some PCs won't recognize any more than 2Gb.

thanks in advance.
