Unfortunately that answer (remove signature) does not solve the problem. I removed the signature, closed Outlook and re-opened OL but same symptom persists.

Switching editors is an option. But more specifically it let's us know the actually issue is with Word's edit functionality and not Outlook itself.

When I either fwd or reply to an email a large space (29 lines in fact) is inserted between the original email header and the body of the original email. <br />
<br />
This is easy to fix manually but having to do this for each mail is very annoying. <br />
This only commenced relatively recently.<br />
