Upgrading Blackberries after migration to BES

installed BES express, have most running version 5.0 on the device.  however what is the correct way to upgrade the software on the devices?  web manager or desktop manager or over th air?
do the following it policies affect the ability to upgrade the software:

wireless software upgrades
wired software updates

I would always recommend a wired approach rather than OTA.

You could also create an Administrative user with a customised role and use this account to upgrade the OS.

Do you want to wipe device, upgrade and then re-activate or do an in-situ upgrade retaining device-BES relationship?

sure, well we have tried wired via desktop manager and it is saying no available updates.

if thius can be done via BEs and/or desktop manager then please tell me how?  all 3 bes options if poss.

went the route of OTA via the BES console and used desktop manager for little things.
