The client computers have not reported to the WSUS server in 41 or more days. I have ran the WUAUCLT /detectnow and it still doesn't report to WSUS. GP points the correct WSUS server. I did a gpudpate /force to make sure the GP was correct. The computers are still not connecting. The WindowsUpdateLog says the following. Any suggestions? Thanks!

The computer still did not report. I will wait some time. However, one thing I keep noticing is that WSUS has the computer under a different IP. However the Server WSUS is installed on has the correct IP? ? ?

No need to run on server, are you using any proxies ?

Did you go over the link ?

Run the cleanup wizard on the WSUS server (in the console)

If you havent run this wizard much, you might want to select one at a time and just rerun the wizard selecting the next.

I read it. I stopped accelerators, AV etc. I am  currently doing the clean up wizard however. Im hesitant to check the "delete computers that have not contacted WSUS", because I dont want to delete it, but have it contact the server.

It's ok to delete them, they will re add themselves anyway when the connectivity issue is resolved.

post a windowsupdate.log from any of these clients

also what is the result from a CMD prompt of ?

Reg query HKLM\SOFTWARE\Policies\Microsoft\Windows\WindowsUpdate

All of the updates stopped on 01/06. You will see it in the lop. There is not Windows Update registry key. The CMD prompt did not show anything. It just ran the script and closed. Actually, the windows update dialog popped up, but thats it.

Also, these are remote users. Not sure if this makes a huge difference.

Yes, GP is pointing at the server but the server is not showing up. This WSUS server was set up 4 months ago and just started marking them as "Null". There must be some kind of conflict on GP.

The pertinent part of the log is the end of it(Last 50 lines or so)

and when you ran the reg query with no results also confirms they arent getting the WSUS gpo

Run rsop.msc to find out which gpo is overriding

For your Security Filtering, you need to have at least "Authenticated Users" or the Security Group that contains all the pcs that you want to apply it to.

Confirm that the Pc's are in your security group and not still in the default "Computers" container

I added the "Authenticated users" but it did not due the job. I have an OU with a 1 computer on it. If I add a user 1 by 1 in the "Security Filtering", then the GP works. But if I link it, to the OU I made specifically, then it doesnt work. GP result will show "Access Denied".

On the GPRESULT Screentshot, I blackedout the GP names. However, the GP I am implementing does not show up at all once I added "Authenticated Users"

" I have an OU with a 1 computer on it"

All the computers that you want this to apply to should be in there

try adding "Domain Computers" to your "Security filtering"(under scope)..... *NOT* the Delegation Tab as your screenshot shows.

Is there a reason that your GPResult shows 2 "Default Domain Policy" ?

Also

"If I add a user 1 by 1 in the "Security Filtering", then the GP works."

??? WSUS is a "Computer" GPO, it only applies to computers

You got it on the money. Adding "Authenticated Users" to the "Security Filtering" does the job. The clients are updating fine now. One last before I close this ticket. Why does adding "Authenticated Users" solve the problem. Thanks again!

Because in reality "Computers" also belong to the "Authenticated Users" security group along with users.
