I have the following site:

http://simmonskidz.com/datagrid/box/global_ranking.html

When the user selects a tab, the browser scroll bar on the right  readjusts the page.  What is causing this and how do I stop this.

If you're talking about the behavior where it automatically scrolls down a little, then you need to add onclick="return false" to your "tabs":
<ul class="tabs">
  <li><a href="#one" onclick="return false"><font color="#666666">Overall Ranking</font></a></li>
  <li><a href="#two" onclick="return false"><font color="#666666">Friends Stats</font></a></li>
  <li><a href="#three" onclick="return false"><font color="#666666">Status Stats</font></a></li>
  <li><a href="#four" onclick="return false"><font color="#666666">Photo Stats</font></a></li>
</ul>

Open in new window

But if it's about the scrollbar and the change of its size, then it's caused by the element you create and try to hide somewhere at the bottom outside the visible area. Even though it is not visible it requires some space in the page as the other elements, so you need to allocate it to ensure your scrollbar stays fixed.
