HP Scanjet N9120 profiles disabled

I have an HP Scanjet 9120 (out of warranty), that used to work with my computer.
MacBook w/ Windows 7.
But now, when I try to open the HP Document Scan software, I get " The HP Scan Document software could not find your scanner. Please make sure your USB is securely...etc"
I don't have connectivity issues (checked the cable).
The Attention LED "!" keeps blinking when it's on.
When I click OK, I'm brought to the screen where you can decide which profile you want to use. They are all disabled with no option of enabling them.
