how can you setup a job to send an email out when there is a new entry in backupset for a particular database and type = 'd' only

ong-hh, we need it run after a backup software run a backup file, not after a job

it does not matter which one- it could be sql 2008 r2 or legato- regardless there will an entry in backupset... and if there is one for
select count(*) from msdb..backupset where database_name = 'tracker' and type='d'
then we need to send an email.

You can create an insert trigger on the backupset table to send an email to you using Database Mail, whenever a record of type D for a particular database is inserted.
