I got a Samsung Galaxy Tab tablet with Android 2.2 on iti, I got it at OfficeMax and it came with a bunch of Sprint junk preinstalled. I only intend to use the wifi.

How do I remove all the Sprint stuff without messing anything up?

Most carriers "cook" some preinstalled apps into their versions of the OS. On the Sprint Galaxy these include Free Games, Kindle, and Facebook. These apps are part of the base OS image and cannot be uninstalled. It is a very annoying practice as the apps are usually junk nobody wants or apps that duplicate services already available in Android, all carriers are guilty of it to varying degrees.

The only way to get rid of them is to "root" your Android device and flash it with a custom Rom. This process will replace the Sprint modified OS with a base version of Android for the Galaxy Tab. The warranty will likely (definitley) be void if you do this (unless you can flash it back to a Sprint Stock Rom before taking it in for service).

A quick search for "root galaxy tab" and "galaxy tab custom rom" shows me you are not alone in this dilemma.

Good Luck

I figured how to disable or hide all of it and redoing the entire rom is more than I want to undertake. Thanks though.
