Changing the name of the folder: C:\Users\Katya_2

Recently I had my daughter's notebook upgraded to Windows 7 from Vista. Unfortunately the computer in question is now unable to connect to the home computer (also running W7) although it can connect to the WIFI and hence internet.
Through my research I suspect the problem has to do with the naming of her user file (Katya_2) which was directly copied from the previous installation of Vista. According to my research, for the network connection to be successful and hence the 'homegroup' connection the names must be the same. In the installation of the W7 the computer was named  'Katya' (please note workgroup names are the same).
Further research showed the name of the folder can be changed if utilising W7 Professional but not W7 Home Premium. Of course, we are using the latter.
I would appreciate a guide as to how to change the name if possible. Otherwise a reinstall may be the only answer?
Thanks once again in advance

Default win7 is using firewall and if you have antivirus then may be it is also can be a reason to connect local intranet.
about to change folder name then pls reffer your task manager if there any process is running with the name of this folder then go into safe moder and change the name of this folder.

You can change your computer name from Mycomputer-> properties, Change computer name and there you can find for workgroup also.
Now one more thing when we are installing vista or W7 its taking backup of previous installation.

You can change the name but i wont recommend it.You might end up with other problems in your computer.

What i would recommend is create a new user account with the name" temp". Make sure you select show hidden  files from folder options. Transfer all you  files in new account "temp" and then delete the old account and user folder after you are 100% sure you have backed all the data.

Create a third account by the name "Katya" then restore all your files.

Thanks for the comments.
Unfortunately the user profile became corrupted and the only solution was a fresh install.

Fresh install is not required for user account corruption.

Not sure if it was corrupted but unable to log in under any user account, only in sadfe mode. Could not delete user accounts despite establishing new accounts with administrator rights. I could not do a thing other than safe mode.
All my reading sugested corrupted user account/s. My terminology may be incorrect but it appeared I had no other choice other than to reinstall. Works fine now.
