hi

i can see how to resend it policy to a blackberry, however how can you foribly apply a policy instantly?

Hi,

The resend will send it instantly (assuming the device is in coverage and properly activated) - it can take a few seconds to a few minutes as the message has to travely over the internet and operator network.

Check the last contact time (visible in the BAS portal) for the device - there could be a connectivity/coverage issue if it's some time ago?

Try rebooting the device and if necessary, regiser it on the network (on device, options, advanced options, host routing table, blackberry button, register now)

Hi,

Yes - resend IT Policy

The Policy Update is sent, but it might not be received straight away.

If there is an issue with the internet, RIM's NOC (BBI), operator network, device SIM/provisioning etc. it won't be received.

You can check IT Policy status on a device by going to Options, Security, Information.

Hi,

Local signal won't necessarily cause the problem.

Does your BES have a connection to SRP? Are other devices receiving emails/IT Policy updates etc?

Can you send a new device password and lock device command?

Have you got Monitoring Service installed - you can check connectivity to device (ping) from that.

the complete BES install is running on the one box.  

the policy is applying but taking 30mins to 1hr.

Hmmm.....can you ping srp.uk.blackberry.net or srp.eu.blackberry.com - what's the round trip time?

Are you seeing any events in the event log indicating SRP disconnection and re-connections?

Anything in the messaging agent and dispatcher logs for that user/device (you can set static user agent for user to help with diagnosis)
