Hi everyone,

I have an installation of SQL Server 2008 on a Windows Server 2003 (SP2) box.

Recently I have been encountering these messages.

First message:

Appears upon opening SQL Management studio, before even hitting the login screen.

 Initial
You can hit CONTINUE on the error pop-up and it will proceed to the login screen as normal.

But once you try almost any action (basic query, executing stored procedure, modifying tables, ...) you encounter this error message.

Had an issue embedding the image, but the error message is "The directory name is invalid".

Not sure if these are related, but this is not a new install of SQL, and have only encountered thses errors recently.

As always, thank you in advance for your time and help.

Thanks,

Dean

Hmm, looks like something has become corrupt somehow.  Have you already got the latest SP for SQL Server installed?  If not, I would give that a try.  If you're lucky then the corrupt files get overwritten with the upgrade...  Or, if possible, uninstall/reinstall the Management Studio (careful, you may not be able to reinstall it if you've already got a SP applied)
