I have just create a new SharePoint 2010 site.  New 2008 R2 Standard OS, fresh install
of SharePoint 2010, SQL Server 2008 R2.  This will be used as an Intranet site.  When I
browse to the site I am presented with a dialog stating the following (see screen capture):

Error: Access Denied
You are currently signed in as mydomain\mjohnson
Sign in as a different user

In IE 8 I've added the site to the Intranet trusted sites.

Thanks in advance for your help,
Terry

Your user does not have acces to the site. Have you checked who is the site collection administrator? You should access the site with that user and then give your user the correct rights.
