Mac Outlook on Exchange

I hav a mac laptop connected to an exchange server (SBS 2003 Standard) through IMAP connection.
Emails come through to the laptop, but contacts, calendar events, etc. do not.

Please advise what I need to check or setup to have full Outlook capabilities from the exchange server.

Mac is new macbook pro (OS X) using MS Office 2011.

The new Outlook for Mac requires Exchange 2007 or higher for full functionality. For Exchange 2003, which is what's in SBS 2003, you're stuck with IMAP or POP mode.

SBS 2008 includes Exchange 2007, and SBS 2011 uses Exchange 2010, if that helps any. To do everything you want, you'll need either a new server with SBS 2008 or 2011, or a new server with Exchange 2007 or 2010.

Just so I am clear, neither IMAP or POP will allow Outlook on the mac to synchronize contacts, etc. with SBS 2003.  My only option is to upgrade SBS to 2008 or 2011.

Unfortunately, yes, and it will also probably mean a new server is needed, since SBS 2008 & 2011 are 64 bit, and there usually is no upgrade option for 32 to 64 bit Windows versions.
