I know I have a asked before but none of the help worked. So, I figure Maybe I wasn't clear. If I wasn't ,I apologize. My boss needs to know who answered (or wrote on) the field "MEMO". This is a questionaire one of the fields ask a question and you put the answer in a "MEMO" field. I also need to count how many questioned were answered. I used the SQL code I was giving and it did not work. Can I use something like:IIf( [memo] = 0 ,Answered, not answered).

Try checking the length of the memo field. If the length is zero (0) then thetre is no text in it.  Now, if someone enters some spaces, you could get fooled unless you also TRIM the database's column before checking the length (and, in any case, I would require a minimum of, say, 5 characters before I would call it "Answered" ;-).

(By the use of the term "memo field", are you working against an Access database?)
