Exmerge PST File Error

After successfully performing an exmerge export on a user's mailbox, Outlook will not read the resultant PST file.  When you try to add the data file, Outlook says "The file C:\USERNAME.PST is not a personal folders file."  When I try to run scanpst.exe on the file I receive a similar message.

I am not sure what to try next... ?

I do have a backup of the Store and my I am working on copying back to the server right now.  I will try to mount the store backup and see if I can extract from there.  

No ideas about the PST that I already have though?

The PST corruption turns out to have been caused from my server not releasing the USB flash drive I was copying the file to.  After a few more tries, I finally got an uncorrupted copy of the PST.  Thank you everyone for your responses!
