Creating an activity code on a notes form automatically

Hello,

I have received some great advice on this site so far so I am going to take a different approach when asking my questions.

I have a document that is created by users with a number of days and date range.  I would like the form to create some kind of way of recording activity codes per hour they have worked.   My first idea was to use a combo box based on how many days the users enters and then this gives the user the chance to select the criteria (code).

Before I start looking into this I thought it would be worth asking if there was a better way of compiling this.

Thanks, Richard

It's really a good idea to get advices about the concept before you even start working on it, but you'll have to give us much more details.

So users have an option of entering either a number of days or a date range (start and end date)?
Then you want to get the number of working hours of a date range?

Explain this sentence a little better:
"I would like the form to create some kind of way of recording activity codes per hour they have worked."

What is activity code?
What would you like the options in combo box to be?
What is criteria?

Thanks.
I have a form which shows;
Employee Name:  Joe Bloggs
Start Date:      05/01/2011 Wed     (Date)
End Date:      05/01/2011 Wed             (Date)
Week:      2011-W01                       (Works out Week Number)
Days Worked :      1 Day                       (Units of days worked    0.2 would be 2 hours)

This records days employees spend on accounts which has been working great.  I would like to break up 1 day into 8 hours for so I can assign an activity code like "Training2 ect.   But not sure if this is the right way to make this work.....

I am struggling with the concept of if notes is capable of dealing with this in any other way.    I realise I could use a combo box to assign the whole day to a  document but I am struggling with a way to break the time up and create a 8 (hours) combo boxs.  My vision would be that this would be available at the bottom of the form so we can pick and chose when to use it.

So you want to be able to specify activity code for each hour of each working day, right?
Maybe it's best to use dialog box/table combination, as explained here:
