send recieve hang up

i have a client that is running a sbs 2008 std. their clients are all xp pro and the clients in question are running office 2007. Now to be clear they can send and receive mail as normal. however where the problem lies is that 4 users when the hit send/receive the progress box holds on 50% (the receiving task)  and the bottom of the dialog box reads offline address book connecting to microsoft exchange. attached is the screen shot let me know your thoughts  screen shot of the send/recieve box

This will automatically sync, you need to leave it running for a while. If it appears hung up still after a couple of hours, restart Outlook and do a send/receive again to see if you get the same results.

i hadnt realized that updating the WSUS Service on the server would affect the OAB. however the user was correct after letting each machine sit on the send/recieve for about 5hours the problem resolved itself
