Database availability Group and Static IP.

Hi team,  iam trying to create a DAG ,
scenario:-
mailbox servers are :EX01 , EX02 and EX03..
i tried the following cmdlet on EX01 to create DAG.
New-DatabaseAvailabilityGroup -Name DAG1 -witnessserver FS01 -DatabaseAvailabilityGroupIPAddress 10.0.1.100
the command executed successfully, when i checked the Ex01 server , this ip is asigned to one of the adapter in EX01 server only.
step 2: i add members into DAG , i added EX01,Ex02 and EX03.  i soul find out that APIPA in Ex02 and Ex03 (169.254.3.145 in ex02 and 169.254.2.214)
  please expalin the purpose of assigning in this APIPA ???
