What do I need to do to be able to remote manage my Cisco/Linksys E3000 Router?

I have enabled the remote management, but still cannot connect. What am I missing? I am doing what the help says to do. Sounds straight forward yet stil cannot get it to work. Am I missing something, I just do not know. The router also has the latest firmware version. I tried it with the remote management port set to 8080. So I enter myexternalip:8080

It works now. I could not get it to work with 8080 for some reason. I changed the port to 8000 and it worked fine. Thanks for your posts.
