Windows 7 not genuine message

Hi Experts,

Today I received the following message in the bottom right of my screen and the desktop turned black:

Windows 7 Build 7600
This copy of windows is not genuine

I purchased this product from Ebay in November last year. This user had sold well over 50 copies and is still selling now, which made me feel comfortable about buying from ebay. My version is Win 7 Pro and I paid £80 for it. When I installed the OS I went to microsof's site to test for authenticity and it passed.
Have I got a fake? Can I do anything about this? I have disabled windows updates, will my computer suddenly stop working?

Any advice will be much appreciated.
