Server 2008 R2 DFS Replication

Hi, I am looking at setting up DFS replication to a branch office and I was wandering if you use this as a backup or if a user in the branch office makes a change on a file does this then get replicated back to the main office?  If so does it lock the files so they cannot be edited at the same time?

You can setup the system in a number of ways. The first way is having two way replication between site A and site B, that way if a file changes on A it gets moved to B and vice versa. The issue is there isnt any real conflict control, if a file changes on both one of them will be moved into a conflict folder and you will need to resolve this yourself.

You could set the system up so that Site A replicates to a server in site B, but the system is set to refer clients only to site A - meaning site B is essentially a hot spare backup....
