I am trying to insert data into a CSV or text flat file and I am getting an error because of a funny character in the source column.

I can't seem to be able to copy and paste this character into the this text box so I have attached it as a image file.

My destination column time in the flat file destination connection manager is: DT_WSTR length 255.

Hi,

What is the datatype of source column.
If it is NVARCHAR, it won't have any problem.

It is a NVARCHAR (200)

The errors are:

[Flat File Destination [361]] Error: Data conversion failed. The data conversion for column "Column1" returned status value 4 and status text "Text was truncated or one or more characters had no match in the target code page.".

[Flat File Destination [361]] Error: Cannot copy or convert flat file data for column "Column1".

Error: SSIS Error Code DTS_E_PROCESSINPUTFAILED.  The ProcessInput method on component "Flat File Destination" (361) failed with error code 0xC02020A0. The identified component returned an error from the ProcessInput method. The error is specific to the component, but the error is fatal and will cause the Data Flow task to stop running.  There may be error messages posted before this with more information about the failure.

Error: SSIS Error Code DTS_E_THREADFAILED.  Thread "WorkThread0" has exited with error code 0xC02020A0.  There may be error messages posted before this with more information on why the thread has exited.

[OLE DB Source [84]] Error: The attempt to add a row to the Data Flow task buffer failed with error code 0xC0047020.

Error: SSIS Error Code DTS_E_PRIMEOUTPUTFAILED.  The PrimeOutput method on component "OLE DB Source" (84) returned error code 0xC02020C4.  The component returned a failure code when the pipeline engine called PrimeOutput(). The meaning of the failure code is defined by the component, but the error is fatal and the pipeline stopped executing.  There may be error messages posted before this with more information about the failure.

Error: SSIS Error Code DTS_E_THREADFAILED.  Thread "SourceThread0" has exited with error code 0xC0047038.  There may be error messages posted before this with more information on why the thread has exited.

My destination has a greater length than the source.. so I don't think it is a truncation issue.

Hi

Its not the truncation issue.
Can you check the data type of column in the pipeline. You can check from the advanced editor in SSIS data flow.

Hi,

Try to go to the advanced editor of flat file destination and check the data type and length of columns. If not matched, try increasing the length there

I have now excluded that row with the funny character...

It seems to work...

I'll close the question if I reach success.
