Dear Sir or Madame,

Is a license required by law to broadcast live on internet radio and play music of famous as well as unknown artists?  If so, please tell me how and where to apply for licenses and the cost involved and what protection will the license provide.  Thank you in advance for your prompt attention in this matter.

Sincerely,

Rufus

You don't need a license but you will have to pay royalties.  http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Internet_radio  If you are successful, you will need your own servers in a well connected data center.  Shared hosting won't support that kind of bandwidth usage.
