Is it possible to use the out of the box approval workflow in sharepoint 2007 in combination with an infopath form that "can include a combo box for changing the status of the workflow".?
Or at least show the status of the workflow in the infopath form, and also show the user who approved or rejected that form?

Ok, Thanks for your fast answer,
but can you explain it, how can i trigger the workflow from there, and by changing this field from false to true is kind of simulating the status of approval?.
Thanks for your comments.

It is a good work arround but , the solution must be more specific and detailed.
but here is the trick
You can make the Form set a field on that Form library item ( like a column state change from false to true )
and let your workflow trigger on that Column change.
that had worked for me for many years.
Best of luck,
