In my asp.net applications, I often use tools like Gembox or SpreadsheetGear to create, read, edit and save data into or out of Excel files. This does not require Office to be installed on the server since the 3rd party tools does the job of creating the Excel compatible file.
My question: Is there an equivalent for Word, i.e. creating, editing saving data into Word documents without requiring Office on the web server? Please note I am not talking about RTF files, but proper Word documents (.doc or .docx).
Typically, our application will accept some input from a user, do some processing, and then create a Word document as a result for the user to download. This ofen entails creating bitmap reports and then putting the bitmaps into a Word template at specific locations, then saving the file and allowing the user to download. Are there 3rd party tools that can do this?
